An oil and gas client presented CPM with a concept for new well servicing equipment. While they had an idea, it needed to be validated technically and refined into a practical, scalable design. The equipment also had to meet strict operational requirements, working reliably in high temperatures and corrosive conditions.
This created a dual challenge: proving the concept’s feasibility and then developing it into a durable, cost-effective unit that could be produced efficiently while meeting industry expectations for compliance and reliability.
CPM began by fabricating a skid-based prototype to transform the client’s idea into a working model. This step allowed both teams to test feasibility and confirm design viability in real conditions. Once proven, we collaborated directly with the client’s engineer to reshape the design into a rock-over trailer, balancing practicality with cost efficiency.
From the outset, environmental factors were considered, with protective coatings and carefully chosen materials incorporated to withstand heat and corrosion. The result was a design engineered for long-term resilience and dependable operation.
After finalising the design, CPM managed the complete manufacturing process for seven trailers. By maintaining close communication with the client throughout production, we resolved minor issues quickly and refined processes to ensure reliability and efficiency. To further protect the client’s investment, we developed a structured maintenance and refurbishment program, extending the life of each unit and reducing downtime.
The project not only delivered high-performing equipment but also gained industry recognition when Santos presented the client with an innovation award for their achievement.
